Sandhill Cranes
imagine us all
celebrating migration
sandhill cranes fly free
Birds ride the winds as
if they were ocean waves
off a distant shore
Cranes walks lowly by
just daring us not to look
and ignore beauty
Do I have to go?
Will I know anyone there?
Ahhh, these are my kin.
Wide wings catching air
From far points unknowable
Wild angels come nest.

The crane migration always reminds me of my late mother and father in law who would make the annual trip to go and photograph them.
I will look for my favorite photo he took and add it to my post.
Remembrance ❤️
A bird wing in flight
expanding to its limit
finds rest on the wind
the great migration
only birds can explain why
nature holds the key
Pterodactyl screech
Shatters early dawn's silence
Cranes protect their own
Redheads stop over
Lanky legs, half million pairs
The Great Plains' pageant
Wings poised nearing flight
Watchful eyes carefully guard
Sandhill crane nestlings
Elegance in flight
Captured in origami
Cranes immortalized
~jcw
They, the birds, wake,
Their first breath brings a new dawn
The witness fulfilled
When I was a boy
Purple Martin came to me
He healed and flew free
MUSCLE MEMORY
it's necessary
always remember flap down
ensures flying up
